By Brian Woodward

What’s the secret of one of the world’s happiest and most economically productive nations?

According to Gert Tinggaard Svendsen, it can be summed up in one word:

Svendsen, a PhD in Economics and professor of public policy at Aarhus University, has researched extensively in the importance of trust in society and will be one of the keynote speakers at the IWDK20 opening ceremony May 12 at Aarhus City Hall.

Svensdsen has authored numerous books and articles- including the popular 60-page book “Trust” from Aarhus University’s Reflections series (Tænkepauser), which explains why trust is so essential to a healthy and productive national economy.

Gert Tinggaard Svendsen is chairman of  SoCap (Danish Social Capital Project) which helps to fight poverty in developing countries. In 2018, he was awarded the Order of the Dannebrog, one of the Danish monarchy’s highest orders of chivalry, for his research and writing.

The IWDK opening ceremony is open to all, but requires registration on the IWDK website.
