Establishing Trust in Tech is the key to making AI work, says EU commission.

By Brian Woodward

The publication of a new framework policy for Artificial Intelligence & Data in Brussels this week speaks directly to Trust & Tech/Today & Tomorrow, the theme of this year’s IWDK festival.

European Commission Vice-President Margrethe Vestager launched a plan this week that sets the future playing field for how we can get the most out of new technologies like Artificial Intelligence while also reassuring citizens they can trust the way tech companies and public institutions use their personal data.

It takes citizens’ confidence to deploy a comprehensive use of artificial intelligence in Europe,” says Vestager. The policy framework covers everything from “security, critical infrastructure and digital education to democracy and media.

This year’s IWDK festival will also cover the importance of trust in all these areas and more under the theme Tech & Trust/Today & Tomorrow. IWDK already has full-day summit events scheduled on Artificial Intelligence and Data Security, and more events are being added to our programme every day.  Check them out and sign up today here.
